Within 40 years, the best projections contend that three-quarters of the planet’s people will live in cities, one-third of them in slums. This unprecedented migration from countryside to city sees people flowing into urban basins with a drive to improve their standard of living, placing unprecedented strains on our ability to create an environment that offers economic opportunity while retaining, or hopefully improving, livability. International Conference on Urban Health 2015 will harness the power of independent filmmakers to create a global conversation about the post 2015 development agenda.
The feature film contest is dedicated to the creation of opportunities for the artistic interaction and exchange among independent filmmakers and the film-going community to illustrate embracing of urbanization and the imaginative solutions real people is creating to overcome the challenges of urbanization. Conference Organizers are looking for films that align with the conference theme “Urban Health for Sustainable Future: Post 2015 Agenda” and are inspiring and informative to screen during the conference. We are open to creative films that advance the understanding of the thematic areas of the conference and support the emerging interest of urban health.
ICUH 2015 will engage filmmakers around the world in telling stories that inform and interest audiences in ways that are as innovative and imaginative as the solutions people are putting into action every day.
